1. Simple is supreme.
2. Consider conventions.
3. Size elements appropriately.
4. Create memorable experiences.
5. Don’t make assumptions.
6. Test. Test. Test.
Start with a prototype. Avoid splash pages. Keep good stuff above the fold. Use includes to maintain consistency. Link home on every page. Keep main navigation simple. Create a good 404 error page. Make contact infortmaion easy to find and use. Create clean URLs.

“ Child or adult, the lesson is the same: We collect a lot of junk in our consumer lives. We should be thankful that we are able to afford these luxuries, but also take the advantage of a new start to give our old possessions to any thrift store that will take them, and live a less consumerist life in our new location.
